i have pavers in my driveway and when they were done insteadof sand filling the seams they used a grout to fill the seams. when they washed the grout down it also penetrated the pours of the pavers. is it possible to get rid of this residue. it looks great when it is wet but after it dries it is not. will a sealer fix it.

A concrete grout? This will help remove the mortar smears:
NMD80 Masonry Detergent

A Paver Sealer will darken the color like a wet look, so yes it will aid in hiding the residue from the grout.
