Refill Sand in Paver Cracks 2 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a large multi-colored cement circular driveway. I'm looking forward to purchasing SuperSeal25 or 30 to reseal it after I finish thoroughly pressure washing soon. I live in So. Florida and I pressure wash frequently to get rid nasty black stuff in the cracks. Lots of sand are blown away on account of washing. Question: Should I refill the cracks with sand, and if so, should I do it before or after resealing? I plan on using a roller for applying the sealer and want the wet look to last as long as possible. Would Sealer30 retain its shine longer than Sealer25?

Sweeping in sand prior to sealing is the normal procedure. This way the sealer can harden the sand and help with erosion. Problem with this is it can be difficult when rolling sealer over freshly laid sand. the roller cover may pull the sand out of the joints and leave it on top of the pavers. If you are concerned with this then apply the sand after sealing.

The SuperSeal30 has about 30% more acrylic then the SuperSeal30. The acrylic is what gives the pavers the shine and gloss. So yes it will be shining a little longer. Eventually dirt, grime, and the sun will dull the paver sealer.

Application of sand towards the end seems to be a nice idea to avoid the situation where sand may get pulled out. Removal of dirt and grime should be the next goal.

Removal of dirt and grime first before applying the sand is the proper procedure.
