Black Spots 3 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
I sealed my deck with Cabot 1400 series deck sealer. It looked great until we received a rain.
Now I have black spots on the finish and a am unable to wask them or sand them off. Do you have any thoughts I what caused this and what I can do

Maybe mold. Try bleach at 1 part to 3 parts water. Spray on and rinse after 5-10 minutes.

The black spots may be due to wrong finish.

That is possible. The Cabot 1400 Stain come is oil-based and water-based. The oil-based version would be more likely to attract the Mold. Water-based deck stains do not "feed" mold growth.
