hi... looking to restain a home that is 30 yrs old ( massachusetts ) rough sawn barn board... 1st stained w/ semi trans olympic then the last time 8 yrs california storm stain .. color very faded chocolate brown.. just looking at this point for water / uv protection and not to enhance the color.. can you recommend ? thanks ...

It is not possible to have UV protection for very long without enhancing the color. Honestly to do this properly you need to follow the correct procedures.

1. First strip off the old stain with a deck stripper
2. Brighten the wood
3. Apply a tinted transparent wood stain for UV protection and Water protection.

All of these wood deck stains would to a great job
