Gloss for Interior Concrete Floor 3 Years ago Karma: 0
Hi, I am searching for a solution for the concrete floor recently applied to our house. The contractor we hired sealed it with a no shine no gloss look sealing and we wanted a high shine, wet look concrete floor.
What would be the best way to remove the sealer and apply a shiner sealer?
Do you sell the product?
Thank you for your time,
katia

We do not have a stripper that will remove the sealer the contractor applied. The best way to find out if it can be removed is to contact the manufacturer of the sealer they used.

The wet look concrete sealers will enhance the color and leave a shine. They may be able to be applied over top of the other sealer, but it has a lot to do with compatibility. You may want to buy a gallon and try a test spot. The solvent based sealers will leave a higher gloss then the water bases but they will also leave a strong odor in the home for a couple of days.

Thank you for your reply.
I am still searching for the material that may have been used in my house. According to what I learn on your message, it seems that the sealant here was water based because it had no odor nor left any shine. But I am unable to know what has been used because the contractor is nowhere to be found.

It's probably just a water repellent. There is a high probability that you can coat over top of it. Try a gallon of this to test a spot.

Concrete Sealer

This will have a solvent odor though.

Although it must be water based it is not permeable. If I drop the water it is not absorbed. Still think I don't need to use any stripper before applying new coat?

Probably not. We personally have used a water based water repellent on substrates prior to using the SuperSeal25. It will result in a higher gloss then normal since it does not penetrate as well due to the first coating. Never had an issue but you should always test first.
