CretoWood is a great product for unfinished cedar shake roofs. When left untreated the cedar will rot and decay. I paln on writing an article on the substanial benefits for this type of application. I will post a link when completed.

That would be awesome, Scott. Up here in the northeast cedar and slate are still traditional roofing materials - and you still see new homes go up with shakes - we new englanders don't want to let go of the past. It's a great looking roof to look at - and something like this could actually make it competitive in terms of longevity.

Cedar shake is still a great looking roofing material, CretoWood would still keep it natural, but give it added protection and longevity.
