Does the Defy Extreme wood stain contain mildewcide, is it non-chalking and does it contain wax. What is the UV protection?

Do I have to use a primer such as pentachlorophenol before applying the stain

Thanks

No primer is needed

No wax

No need for mildewcide as it is a water based product and water based products do not "feed" mildew growth like oil based products can

Contains Zinc Oxide which reflects the UV rays

Zinc Oxide is "white pigment". When used with nano-0technology to make the zinc oxide extremely small and disperse it throughout the Defy Extreme, it becomes clear. Think of Sunscreen. Sunscreen looks white from zinc oxide but dries clear.

I have a 10 year old redwood deck that i just finished stripping. I really like the look (dark and natural) now when the deck is wet. Should I put down some sort of oil or Defy Extreme Deck Stain to try to accomplish this look?

I have a small porch which was has oil-based sealer. I plan to use defy extreme sealer on my deck and should have enough left over to do the porch. How should I prepare the porch for applying defy given the existing oil-based sealer?

You should remove the oil based stain with an exterior wood stripper for maximum penetration. Do you know what brand the oil based stain was?

Wow - thanks for the quick reply. The sealer is clear olympic maximum waterproofing sealer, which was put down probably 3 years ago.

Sealing the porch was kind of an afterthought. I just put new decking boards on my deck and need to apply sealer. I need a little more than a gallon, so I thought I could use the rest of the second gallon on my porch. I was hoping all that was needed was some king of cleanup of the surface since there is no actual "coating".

Thanks,
davis
