Let the wood dry for at least 1 month. It is important to clean and brighten the wood prior to applying a stain.

Using the Defy Extreme in the Cedar Tone would be a great choice for your wood.

1.How would this stain hold up on a deck that is less than 2ft off the ground?
2.What would the average length of time before restaining is needed based on your other stains
3. Can this stain be reapplied without stripping?

1. No issues with a 2 foot high deck.
2. Typically horizontals will need to be done every couple of years. Verticals last twice as long. This varies depending on traffic and weather.
3. Yes it can be reapplied without stripping.

The Defy Extreme stain refers to use on hardwoods. I have an elevated deck. The deck boards are pine, not pressure treated. Is this product or the other epoxy fortified products recommeded for this surface. The descriptions are a bit vague.

I want to protect one-year old white cedar shingles on a cabin. I'm not sure what would be the better choice: Defy original synthetic, or Defy extreme clear. The shingles are local, so they're fairly rough

They still look great after a year (unfinished--I thought I was going to let them go gray, as the mill recommended, but now I realize that I want to protect them.) , and I want the pale color they now have, NOT the orange color most stains give to cedar.)

My goals:
1. protect the white cedar
2. minimize the need to restain constantly (so I'd rather use a more expensive product now, if it will last longer. Most people here who start sealing cedar need to do it every year or so, which I don't want to do.)
3. keep the light color they have now after a year--I really hate the orange color most stained cedar has.

Thanks for letting me know if Defy Original Synthetic or Defy Extreme Clear would be a better choice. I was thinking of getting the light fir stain color in the original synthetic, because it's the color the shingles have now, after a year.

Either would work for you. The Defy Original synthetic is a very good product and is used on homes a lot. If you like the color of the Alpine fir then I would suggest that. Keep in mind that when you apply a stain it will change the color of the shingles. Make them look "richer".

Thanks

I would like to buy your product to seal a new deck. I am confused as to which product is the best. I would like to remain close to the original color but do not mind getting the natural pine stain if a "stain" lasts longer. I was told an epoxy is best. What is the difference between the "extreme" vs. UV and epoxy stains? Don't know which to purchase?
