Defy Products 3 Years, 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,

We saw information on line but still have questions about what is best to buy to clean the deck which is cedar. I like what I have read about DEFY stain and other products, but am confused about which product to use to clean it with, the oxygen cleaner or Timberwash. Also, the total area of our deck counting the rails and steps is about 1000 sq ft so we aren't sure how much stain we will need and whether its better to buy two 5 gallon pails or a 5gal and 3 ones. We also could use some advice on application.

Defy Timberwash is an oxygenated cleaner. Make sure to use the Defy brightener as well.

I would buy the two 5 gallon Pails as the Defy stains do not spread as far as you might think. Best way to apply is with a stain pad or brush. You can use a sprayer but you will need to be careful with puddles and over application.

Thanks for the info. I am now wondering if I need as much Timberwash and Timberbright as I do stain, which, now with your advice I am ready to order 2 5gal quantities of. I would assume that the wash and brightener would cover more easily than the stain sealer.

Probably 2 cleaners and 2 brighteners will be enough. Both are concentrates and each make 5 gallons.

Is it needed to use a brightener? Will it brighten a 13 year old deck?
