What do you suggest for deck stain 2 Years, 11 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi- I am hoping to stain my boat dock in the next few weeks. It does not appear to have been stained in the last several years (if not longer) so I'm curious what products you would recommend. I was going to buy the DEFY wood cleaner to start with and then go over the deck with a pressure washer (on under 1500 PSI). Should I follow that by applying the brightener or will the cleaner take care of restoring the wood to a normal color? Also, which DEFY product should I use- the epoxy stain or the hardwood stain? Thanks!

What kind of Wood is it?

You should use the defy deck brightener as this neutralizes the cleaner and restores the natural pH balance of the wood.

Hi Scott- I'm not positive what kind of wood it is, but it's probably basic pressure treated pine. Also, this is for my boat dock over brackish salt water. So is the epoxy stain better? Thanks!

That would be correct. The defy epoxy stain would work best for you.

I'm about to order the epoxy stain and had a quick question. Does the 5 gallon bucket come with the dvd showing how to properly install it? I'll definitely watch the video, but I was curious if you can give me a general idea of the easiest way to apply it. Should I spray it on and then back brush or would I be better served to use a roller? I'd like to make sure I have all the necessary tools before I order. Thanks again for your help!

It can be applied with a pump up sprayer and back brushed with a stain pad. I am not a fan of rolling. We find that these pads work the best for the flooring:
Speed Mop

The DVD is an option to add for free when you add the Defy Stain. Just click yes that you would like one. It is very informative.
