I'm pretty sure there is not a whole lot you can do, if you tried to straighten out the cupping, the wood would split i reckon

Just replace the worst boards. It would be the safest thing to do.

Honestly a Pressure Treated board isn't that expensive. A 12' board may only cost $10 depending on your area. The problem is your new boards will not match your old boards at first. It may take a couple times of deck restoration to achieve some uniformity. Let me know if you need some advice on this.

Any boards you replace should be installed with decking screws to reduce cupping. Nails are not as effective.

Make sure to use galvanized or stainless steel screws so they will not rust!

Thanks for being specific about the screws and what type to use. I just bought a house with a deck and it need some replacement of boards (not many) but they were put in with nails.

Can I just go in and place those nails or should I wait. The boards I am referring to are in very good condition other than a little sanding and then re-coating them.
