Dull and Dirty Deck 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I built a deck (wood) last year about 6,500 feet and finished it with Thompsons Advanced Clear. This year it appears dull and dirty. I washed it using Behr ( no real change) and then Home Depot ZEp deck cleaner. Again, I wasn't impressed. What can I do to make this look decent again. Thanks. Gary

Strip the Thompson's off and start over. Thompson's is a poor product at best. Here is an article that will explain the steps a little better:
Wood and Deck Stripping

Did the Thompson's have any tint? Did it change the color or leave a film on top of the wood?

The Thompson's container states "clear" but there is a slight color stain (appears like a milky light light beige tint) and there is no film present and it still beads when wet. It's almost like it absorbed all the dirt into it and is very dull and old looking, and areas with black mold spoting don't help much either.

Last question, what would you use in place of Thompson's.
Thanks,
