Fix my ugly peeling Behr stain 2 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello,

We have a very large area of decking that is around 8 years old. I have used semi transparent and when I washed it and stripped the wood it looked like crap I even pressure washed it and the wood was blotchy and ugly and the stain all never came off. So, Home Depote said to put a solid dark color over it. Well in just a few months it pealed and looks terrible. Now we have added on to the deck and I do not want the same color on that what do I do? Our home is a light cream taupe color with white trim and the deck stain is brown well I ordered brown and when the stain dried it dried brownish purple I hate it.

Unfortunately Behr stain is one of the most difficult stains to remove. It is also one of the worst performing products. Now that it has been covered with a solid stain there isn't any easy way to remove it completely. None of the stains we have will remove solid stains easily or completely. The best way to get it off is to sand. Sorry to tell you this and I feel sorry for anyone who applies Behr to their deck.
