Help with old deck! 2 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
Have older pressure treated wood deck. Needs cleaning and stained/sealed. I want the best products available to use on this project. I saw your website. What do you recommend?
Cleaner? Or Stripper?
Waterproofing Treatment?
How long does it last?
When reapplied does it have to be stripped again?
Help!!

Thanks!

If you are just cleaning the dirt, gray, and grime then I would suggest a wood cleaners followed by a wood brightener. There is additional info on this link that will explain it more thoroughly:
Wood Deck Restoration Steps

When adding a wood stain/sealer it is best to have a product that will add a little tint. The tint will act as your UV absorber. If it is old wood, then it would also be beneficial to choose a product that will condition the wood cells as well as seal the wood. Here is a couple of options that will do this:
Armstrong Clark Wood Stain
TimberOil Brand

They typically will last 3-4 years on verticals and 2-3 on horizontals before needing a recoating. This depends on weather.
