Finish on my Ipe Deck 1 Year, 8 Months ago Karma: 0
I put Messmer's UV finish on my Ipe deck and noticed that I had a couple of puddling places that are a bit tacky to the touch. How do I get rid of that tacky-ness? Also, my deck seems to suffer from mildew. I used a cleaner/brightener on it, but that didn't take out the mildew stain and had to resort to a power washer. Is there anything out on the market that will prevent the mildewing? My deck is shaded most of the day. Thanks for any help.

You could use a little bit of mineral spirits to wipe off the excess stain/tackiness.

Mildew can happen in shaded areas. You could try a watered down solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. Just spray on with a pump sprayer and rinse off. This should remove most or all of the mildew spots.
