Have used DEFY Hardwood stain on a IPE WOOD deck...this product claims to be "WATER REPELLENT "....so... with persistent and recurrent rain this summer and future snow in winter ...the question is : is there A NEED for the application of an additional PROTECTIVE coating to water seal the deck ??? that WILL NOT ,latter on, PEEL OFF ??? or make it necessary to scrappe it off to apply a restoring coat of the hardwood stain a year or two latter ???? your oppinion will be greatly appreciated.

Yes we have used the Defy for Hardwoods on IPE. It penetrates into the wood and will not film. There is no need for an additional application of a "water seal" and in fact that would be a very bad idea.

The majority of customers use the Defy Stain for Hardwoods in the Light Walnut tint for IPE.

How will be structure of the hard wood. It is heard that some varieties of hardwood are very much harder than the soft wood.
