Help with Brazilian Redwood Deck 1 Year, 10 Months ago Karma: 0
I have used the Cabot's Australian Timber Oil on by Brazilian Redwood decking for 2 years now. The problem that I have is 2 fold....first, it never seems to dry, i.e. it remains tacky and secondly, by the end of winter the deck looks horrible.
Is there another product that I should consider? I would like the end product to have a glossy finish.

I believe your issue is two fold.

1. Deck stains are not supposed to be shiny or "glossy". They are designed to penetrate into the wood not lie on top of the wood.
2. Since you were trying to achieve a gloss finish you may have been over applying the Cabot. This would cause it to be sticky/tacky. This would attract the dirt and grime making it look horrible after the season.

With Exotic Hardwoods it is best to apply one coat on an annual basis.

I would suggest trying the:

Defy Stain for Hardwoods in Light Walnut

Messmers Hardwood Stain
