Choosing the right log for the construction of log home has to be carefully monitored. The primary thing to be checked out is the moisture content of the log which will vary with the species of tree we choose, local climate, season and the geographic location. If the moisture content seems to be high then cracks would appear on the log due to drying and shrinkage of the log on the long run.

Why not the cedar log home? There is an increased level in sophistication, glamor and innovation attached to the cedar wood. It is long lasting as well. It combats decay and shrinkage.

Cedar sided homes are more popular then a cedar log home. The majority of log homes are made from pine. Cedar is a nicer looking wood and is more stable then pine. Either will need a log home stain applied every 4-8 years to keep the wood looking great!
