Can you apply more than one coat of the twp 500 series stain? The label says for best results to apply a second coat while the first is still wet. I can't find any information about applying a second coat within a few days of the first coat.

You can but it is not the suggested way by the manufacturer. The problem is that over application can cause premature failure. It also can take a very very long time to dry. If you do apply a second coat a few days later I would strongly suggest that it is very light and that you back wipe the excess with some rags. Make sure to soak the rags with water when done. They are combustible!
