The Sealer Store (08:13:48):

Hello, How may I help you?

Ann (08:15:31): Hi. I have a deck that needs refinishing. It has "finished" last year with a Sherwin Williams product and does not look good. Is my first step to strip and clean? Can you recommend a product?
The Sealer Store (08:16:42): Yes that is correct.
The Sealer Store (08:17:01): Any of these strippers will work:
The Sealer Store (08:17:20): www.opwdecks.com/wooddeckstrippers.htm
The Sealer Store (08:17:38): The strongest is HD80
The Sealer Store (08:17:52): www.opwdecks.com/hd-80-wood-stripper-2lbs.htm
Ann (08:18:31): thanks. Now can you tell me what is the basic difference between all the different deck stains/sealers?
The Sealer Store (08:19:21): There is no basic difference
The Sealer Store (08:19:41): Just color and if they are oil or water based
Ann (08:20:11): How do I decide between oil and water based?
The Sealer Store (08:21:25): Just a preference on your part. Oil bases are typically more popular since they penetrate better. That is why your SW Deckscapes failed. It is a water based stain
Ann (08:22:12): Is TWP oil based?
The Sealer Store (08:22:30): Yes it is
Ann (08:23:01): TWP has several products - 100, 200, 500. How do I know which to use?
The Sealer Store (08:23:25): Where do you live
Ann (08:23:34): Atlanta, GA
The Sealer Store (08:23:55): Either the 100 series or the 500 series would be good
Ann (08:24:41): Difference in the two? Is there a preferred method of application - spray vs brush?
The Sealer Store (08:26:35): Same application. 500 series is higher in solid content, more pigment.
Ann (08:26:58): Thanks you've been very helpful. Would you recommend a couple of deck stain/sealers for me to look at. There are so many. Obviously, I've looked at TWP.
The Sealer Store (08:27:43): Armstrong Clark and TimberOil would work as well
Ann (08:28:13): Thank you so much. Can I get a copy of this chat?
The Sealer Store (08:28:33): email?
Ann (08:29:01): sure - REMOVED FOR SECURITY
The Sealer Store (08:29:34): done. thanks
Ann (08:29:47): Good bye
The Sealer Store (08:29:57):
