best stain 2 Years, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
I am about to overload for researching which stain I should use so I am going to ask for advice given the following information
Pressure-treated weathershield lumber
New wood deck
located in Edgewood NM
some snow
partially exposed to intense sun in the summer
6500 ft elevation
So wait a month, clean and brighten then WHICH STAIN??? Please recommend the most durable and easy maintenance stain available as lots of traffic is expected as well.

Unfortunately there is not a "best" stain. There is a lot of high end deck stains but not one that is better then the rest.

For your particular scenario I would suggest a stain that is higher in solids as this will help with your extreme UV exposure.

TWP 500 series
Armstrong Clark Wood Stain in Semi-Trans or Semi-Solid
Wood Tux

These all penetrate very well which helps with traffic. They can also be cleaned and recoated as needed.

New wood is not very absorbent. I would suggest only one coat for the first year as "thicker" is not always better.
