Getting back cedars beauty 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
About 3 years ago I built a cedar deck. I love the natural color of cedar. We stained our deck the year after we built it but have now stripped and washed it this year in preparation to stain it again. I have since added 3 cedar planter boxes at my wife's request. So I have 2 questions:

1. Is there any clear UV type of coating that will keep the new cedar boxes from fading and looking like cedar?

2. Is there anyway to get my old cedar decking looking like the new cedar again then sealing it?

Thank you

Crystal clear sealers will not do much if anything for UV protection. You need to use a transparent but slightly tinted stain. The tint will absorb the UV rays prolonging the wood from turning gray. Any of these Deck Stains will work.

You should use a deck cleaner and a deck brightener your old wood. This will make the older wood look much better but it will not match the new wood. Close but not exactly.
