New Large Dock Stain 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have a 2300 sq. ft. boat dock on a fresh water river. The dock was
finished about 6 months ago, hasn't had any stain or sealant applied
yet and wood is all pressure treated pine. What stain and wood
cleaner would you suggest for this situation. I'm located in
Chattanooga TN.

For all new wood we suggest:
TheSealerStore Brand TimberOil Deck Stain

The main reason is that new PTP wood is not very absorbent. This particular stain is extremely good at penetration. Make sure and clean and brighten the dock before staining.

What is the per gallon square foot coverage for the Timber Oil deck stain? Need to figure out how many gallons it will take to cover a 2300 sq. ft deck.

Depending on the porosity it is 150-200 per gallon. Maybe 3-4 five gallon pails.

Thank you for your answer. What about a cleaner and brightner, brand recommendations, amount needed for coverage.

Typically we suggest the Hose Connect products since they are easier to apply. You would need the cleaner and the brightener. No need for the stripper on a newer deck.

TheSealerStore PowerSolve Injectable Wood Deck Care Cleaners

Defy also makes a good cleaner and brightener system.

Defy Deck Cleaner

and

Defy Deck Brightener

I received my order, thank you. I do have a couple of questions, How long should I leave the cleaner on the deck before I rinse off? How long after cleaner is rinsed do I wait before I use the brightener and how long do I leave brightener on before rinsing off. Once cleaner and brightener have been applied and rinsed off, how long do I need to wait to apply stain?

Most deck cleaners should be left on 5-15 minutes before scrubbing the deck or lightly power washing. You should apply the deck brightener the same day that you are completely done cleaning. The brightener should stay on for about 15 minutes then only needs to be rinsed off. Dry time should be around 48 hours before applying the stain. If it rains lightly in between, wait another day. Heavy rain, another 2 days.
