Damaging my house 3 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 0
I am trying to clean and stain our deck. We have vinyl siding, an aluminum storm door, and vinyl shutters that are painted.

How can I best protect all of these things from being damaged while I'm using the PowerSolve products to clean our deck?

Prewet the house surfaces. Apply the PowerSolve Hose-Connects. Rinse the house then start washing the deck making sure that you rinse the house every so often. The Stripper will not remove solid paint unless it is already peeling.

Just to clarify...I don't need to cover the house/shutters/door with anything. Just pre-wet them and then make sure to rinse them off as soon as I get done using the PowerSolve on the deck.

How long do I need to wait after I've finished with the Powersolve to begin staining the deck?

No you will not unless you have a failed/peeling paint or extremely oxidized aluminum. Just keep rinsing lightly.

The wood will need to dry for 2 days weather permitting prior to staining. Which stain will you be using?

Right now the plan is to use a Cabot toning stain.

Does your deck have a previous coating on it? Cabot makes a decent product but there is other options you may want to consider:

Wood Deck Stains

This is a stupid question...but our deck is pretty tall (it goes up to the second floor) so do I have to stain the bottom of it too?

No you do need to stain the underside of the deck.
