Treating your Wood or Deck with transparent "tinted" Deck Stains will create a UV absorber, filtering out the damaging sunlight and preserving the natural color tones.

I had let my mother paint using the stain on the deck. However she did not go across the boards/deck from one end to the other. She did not think it would make a difference. Therefore she would do about a 4 foot stretch across and then down about 4 foot or rows as well and then begin again at the top where she had left off..She had only done half of the deck (rows down) and now each and every place she stopped on the boards it is not matching up or uneven and I can actually see where she stopped each time. I told her you had to go completely across the rows as indicated on the instructions however now I do not know what I should do prior to finishing. She tried second coats but it still dried showing each stopping point. Any suggestions? Or does it have to be completely stripped?
Thanks,
Connie

The only way to fix this is to use a deck stripper and start over. Applying more stain will not fix the issue and could cause the stain to prematurely fail due to over application.
