Why Seal Brick Pavers?

ImageThe main reason that people seal their pavers is to create an enhanced "wet" look, which creates a darkening effect and satin to semi-gloss shine. The acrylic in the paver sealer will deepen the natural color tones and add a glossy shine. The gloss level is dependent on the solid content of the acrylic, porosity of the substrate, and how many previous coats have been applied. Typically only one coat of a high quality sealer is needed when applying a solvent based Brick Paver Sealer. The sealer will also protect and cure the pavers from spills, oils and the degrading effects of the sun.

Brick Paver Sealers can come in a solvent-base or water-base. Solvent based sealers will only need 1 coat at the ratio of 100 feet per gallon. Solvent-based sealers are best applied with a roller or Chapin 1949 metal sprayer (SuperSeal30 cannot be sprayed). They dry in a few hours and can be driven on in 24 hours. SuperSeal Paver Sealer comes in a 25% Semi-Gloss, 30% Higher-Gloss, and a Matte Low-Gloss. All will darken the natural colors of the pavers similar as if they were wet.

Water-based Paver Sealers will require 2 coats. They are very easy to apply with a plastic garden sprayer or roller. Water based sealers will dry in 2-4 hours. They are not recommended for driveways but all other types of patios and walkways.

Sealing pavers in my opinion dramatically enhances the overall appearance. With
the sun we have in Florida, the pavers take a beating. Adding a wet look sealer
makes my pavers look brand new!

It will also help protect from spills and damaging sun degradation. B)

I have been using the SuperSeal25 for over a year now for my customers. It is
the only sealer that I have found that actually works well!

Thanks! The VOC version for Cali is the same but with an exempt solvent used. It
still has the high quality of a solvent based product.

How do we get the white lime stain out of red bricks. The bricks have been down
for four years now and still continue to leech.

It might be efflorescence. Try a diluted muriatic acid to wash it away. Be very
careful and water it down so that it will not over etch the bricks surface. I do
not know it this will permanent stop it though. Once cleaned you could try the Creto DPS, this may stop it from leeching out in the future.

[I recently had brick pavers in my house. they look old and distressed.
Something you would see in an old pueblo, but they also looked dusty dirty -
something that I was starting to hate. I used Super Sealer on my floor...OMG...I
now have floor that I had dreamed they would be. The sealer enhanced the color
and made them look absolutely gorgeous.

I really like the way the pavers look in the picture above! Our 10 year old
driveway looks dull and we really want to enhance the overall appearance.

maybe it's not fitting for the driveway? is it strong enough to endure the
friction?
warren  - waterbase over solvent sealer |Y-m-d H:i:s
can yoy apply waterbase sealer over a 4year old solvent base
warren |Y-m-d H:i:s
waterbase over solent paver sealer that has not been sealed for 4 years
DeckRestAdmin |Y-m-d H:i:s
Depends if there is any of the solvent left. If there is it could possibily
cause an adhesion issue. You would be better off choosing a solvent to make
sure.

raining and or below freezing.

Addition of a wet looking sealer makes the home look fresh and new no doubt but
would there be weed growth after the application due to the already existing
wetness in it?
DeckRestAdmin |Y-m-d H:i:s
Eventually weeds will come back. The sealer will help minimize the weeds for
awhile.
iwiz |Y-m-d H:i:s
By sealing brick pavers, one can stay assured for long term good look on it and
of course, a constant cleaning will add the glossy look.

Not cleaning but sealing will restore the gloss look. Periodic cleaning will
help keep the pavers looking great though.
